In a typical assisted living facility, each suite is equipped with a speech module in the bedroom adjacent to the bed, as well as a pull cord in the washroom and an optional pendant. If a resident is in need of assistance they can press either the red button on their speech module or their Amie Pendant and an emergency call will be placed to staff who carry a wireless telephone. The staff member will then be able to talk to the resident, regardless of their location in the suite, allowing them to determine the problem and provide the necessary assistance.

Similarly, all common rooms and public washrooms are equipped with a speech module. Anywhere else in the complex the resident need only press their Amie pendant and the staff will be able to quickly locate them.
